Young NZer Challenge

Young NZer Challenge

The Young New Zealanders’ Challenge is the new name for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. It is a voluntary and non-competitive programme open to anyone aged between 14 and 25 years old. It has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level has four sections: a new skill, service to the community, physical recreation (sport), and an expedition.

YNZC at HVHS is designed to offer personal challenges and to introduce young people to new, exciting and rewarding activities that they can do in their free time. Most students find that they are already doing two or three things that qualify for the YNZC. For example, if you play a sport and a musical instrument, you’re half way there!

If you would like to join the YNZC at HVHS fill in a registration form and see the Sports Office or email sports@hvhs.school.nz. Most people start at the beginning of the year, but you can start any time. There’s no time limit for completion. Many students finish the Bronze Level in one year, but you don’t have to.
