Tautoko - Supported Learning Centre
Tautoko - Supported Learning Centre offers an adapted programme primarily for students with ORS Funding, though students with other learning needs will also be considered.
Students range from Year 9 to Year 13+ with emphasis placed on developing confidence, independence and resilience. Generous staffing means that there are lots of opportunities for small group and one to one tuition.
The programme for Year 9 and 10 students is adapted from the main school Junior curriculum. From Year 11, students may study NZQA Level 1 Supported Learning Standards Units and complete work experience placements around the school and in the community. All students complete SPEC life skills units and there is increased integration between Tautoko and the wider school. Students work with mainstream teachers in specialist subjects such as Music, Science, Food and PE.
Individual students may also join mainstream classes according to their abilities and interests. There are also opportunities for students to participate in inter-school sports activities and sailing lessons.
