Paula from Chile
Mi tiempo en Nueva Zelanda ha sido algo que recordaré toda mi vida. Aunque no he estado aquí por mucho tiempo, disfruté enormemente ser parte de la comunidad de Hutt Valley High School. Hice amigos que nunca olvidaré.
El colegio aquí es muy diferente al colegio en Chile. Aquí podemos elegir las asignaturas que queremos tener, no como en Chile, donde todos los estudiantes tienen que ir a las mismas clases. Por eso, realmente disfruté ir al colegio y asistir a clases.
Todas las asignaturas son divertidas en diferentes formas. Tomé Matematica, Ingles, ESOL, Biología y Turismo. También tomé Español, a pesar de que es mi primer idioma, porque pensé que sería una genial manera de hacer nuevos amigos y ayudar a las personas que quisieran aprender mi idioma.
Durante los tres meses que estuve aquí hice muchos amigos internacionales y logré conocer personas de todas partes del mundo. Espero volver a verlos algún día.
El departamento Internacional es tan preocupado con todos los estudiantes internacionales. Ellos me hicieron sentir que estaba viviendo en una gran familia internacional con personas de distintos países y diferentes culturas.
He crecido más en estos tres meses, de lo que lo he hecho en toda mi vida en Chile. Poder viajar hasta el otro lado del mundo me abrió los ojos y no volveré a casa siendo la misma. Me ha hecho ser más independiente y valerme por mi misma.
También pude hacer amigos chilenos. Ahora no solo puedo decir que conozco Nueva Zelanda, sino que este viaje me ha dado una nueva perspectiva de mi propio país.
El hogar en el cual me alojaron fue otra cosa que también me gustó mucho. Pude vivir con una gran y divertida familia. Éramos cuatro chicas en la casa; dos kiwis , una brasileña y yo, una chilena. En mi hogar en Chile soy la única mujer en la casa por lo que tener hermanas fue una experiencia agradable, aunque fuera por un pequeño período de tiempo.
Si tuviera la oportunidad lo haría todo de nuevo. Esta es una experiencia, en la que cualquier persona que tenga la oportunidad de hacerlo, debería hacerlo.
My time in New Zealand has been a thing that I will remember all my life. Though I haven’t been here for long I hugely enjoyed being part of Hutt Valley High School community. I made friends that I will always remember.
The school here is very different from the school in Chile. Here we can choose which subjects we want to do, not like in Chile, where is the same for everyone. Because of that, I really enjoyed coming to school and being in class.
All of the subjects are fun in differents ways. I took Mathematics, English, ESOL, Biology and Tourism. I also took Spanish though is my first language because I thought that it was a great way of making new friends and helping people who wanted to learn my language.
During the three months that I were here I made a lot of Internationals friends and got to know people from differents countries. I hope that maybe someday we will all meet again.
The International department is so great and concerned with all the Internationals students. They made me feel like I was living in a big International family.
My homestay is another thing that I really liked. I got to live with a big and funny family. We were four girls in the house, two kiwis, one brazilian, and me, a chilean. In my home in Chile I am the only girl in the house so it was really cool to got the chance to have sisters, even if it was for a short time.
If I had the chance I would do it all over again. This is an experience that any person who can do it, should do it.
