I had a great time at Hutt Valley High School even if it was just for a short time. I enjoyed everyday here and I’m glad that I made the decision to move to Wellington. Hutt Valley High School is just amazing and I’m definitely going to miss it! Heaps of love, Saskia

I had the most amazing time at HVHS. Even though I was only here for 3 months, I enjoyed it to be together with my friends and attend my subjects. The things I had to learn were mainly very easy, maybe too easy, but I liked to be creative e.g. cooking or developing photos. But the really best thing was that I got to know a lot of people and made heaps of friends. I will miss them all and I’m planning to come back as soon as I can and spend a few weeks in NZ even a few days at HVHS.

My time at HVHS has been wonderful! When I first came here I was a bit concerned – of course – about my English and if I would get on well with people, but soon I knew I really didn’t need to worry. People here are just great. My host family was awesome and I made so many good friends that I will definitely come back to NZ as soon as I can!
I also discovered water polo, a fun sport. And I found a tramping paradise: all the parks in Wellington have soooooooo many amazing tracks! I even got to see Kiwis… three times! And I went to a nature reserve and saw some Takahe. New Zealand birds are cool 8)
And of course I met sheep. Heaps of them. We had some snow (quite rare for New Zealand) and the sheep in the snow looked really funny.
And – believe it or not – I even enjoyed school here! The classes are heaps of fun and way different from Germany. We went on some great field trips (to the Zoo for Bio and to Taranaki for History).
I, too, enjoyed all the New Zealand beaches – there are some great waves in Castlepoint! – And the sunsets are simply beautiful.
All in all New Zealand is like a paradise to me. Coming here was the best thing I’ve ever done!!!

Meien Zeit hier ‘at HVHS’ war wundervoll! Am Anfang hatte ich zwar noch so meine Zweifel – ob mein Englisch gut genu gist und ob ich mich gut mit allen verstehen wuerde – aber schon nach kurser Zeit wusste ich dass ich mir garkeine Sorgen machen muss! Die Leute hier sind super. Meine Gastfamilie war toll und ich habe so viele gute Freunde gefunden, dass ich auf jeden Fall so schnell wie moeglich zurueck nach Neuseeland gehen moechte!
Ausserdem habe ich ‘water polo’ (Wasserball) entdeckt, ein Sport der total viel Spass macht! J Und ich habe ein Wander-Paradies gefunden: die ganzen Parks in Wellington haben soooooo viele tolle Wanderwege! Ich habe sogar Kiwis gesehen… drei mal! Und ich bin in ein ‘nature reserve’ (Naturschutzgebiet) gefahren und habe ein Paar Takahe (sehr seltene Neuseelaendische Voegel) gesehen. New Zealand birds are cool 8)
Und natuerlich habe ich Schafe getroffen. Tausende von denen. Wir hatten Schnee (recht selten fuer Neuseeland) und die Schafe im Schnee sahen total lustig aus.
Und – glaubt es oder nicht – sogar die Schule hier hat mir gefallen. Der Unterricht macht Spass und ist ziemlich ‘anders’ (im Vergleich zu Deutschland). Ich bin auf zwei tolle ‘field trips’ gefahren (in den Zoo fuer Bio und nach Taranaki fuer Geschichte)
Ausserdem habe ich die Straende hier geniessen duerfen – es gibt super Wellen in Castlepoint! – und die Sonnenuntergaenge sind wie im Bilderbuch.
Im Grossen und Ganzen ist Neuseeland wie ein Paradies fuer mich. Her her zu kommen was das Beste was ich je gemacht habe!!

Were the best days of my life so far! Barbara, Ms House, Jacqui and all the other teachers make a wonderful work and made me feel good even if I was not at my real home. The support and the safeness that they gave me were really important. I had good and happy moments, some of then were a little bit hard, but I will keep just good memories! Everyone here is really nice and friendly. I am going to miss all my friends, mates and my host family so much! I am sure that I will be back soon. In the beginning we think that we will give up. But time goes so quickly and now we just do not want to leave. Everything that I learnt during this time here will be forever. Thank you Hutt Valley High School!

Foram os melhores dias da minha vida ate agora! Barbara, Ms House, Jacqui e todos os outros professores fazem um otimo trabalho e me fizeram sentir bem mesmo estando longe de casa. O apoio e ajuda que eles me deram foram muito importantes. Tive muitos bons momentos, alguns um pouco dificeis, mas guardarei apenas otimas lembrancas! Todo mundo aqui e muito amigavel e legal. Todos os amigos, colegas e principalmente familia fazerao muita, mas muita falta mesmo. No comeco a gente acha que vai desistir. Mas o tempo passa tao rapido e agora a gente nao quer mais voltar. My time at Hutt High was pretty awesome! I always wanted to leave Germany for a certain time and with New Zealand I found the perfect place to go. I’m pretty lucky with the school I’ve chosen and the host family I got into. Hutt High is a really nice school and way different from my school in Germany. The school here is way bigger ( in Germany we are about 400 people at my school), has a huge range of different subjects and the school uniform. To be honest: I enjoy wearing my school uniform because I don’t have to choose every morning what I’m gonna wear that day and the school uniform doesn’t look bad. I experienced a lot here and did heaps of stuff I never expected me to do, for example opc! It was just awesome and I would advice everyone to do that who has the chance to! If I had the opportunity again to come for an exchange I would definitely choose HVHS again!

Meine Zeit an der Hutt High war verdammt gut. Ich wollte schon immer Deutschland fuer eine Weile verlassen und fand mit Neuseeland den perfekten Ort. Ich bin ziemlich gluecklich mit der Schule, die ich gewaehlt habe und der Gastfamilie, in der ich gewohnt habe. Hutt High ist eine richtig schoene Schule und unterscheidet sich sehr von meiner deutschen Schule. Die Schule hier ist sehr viel groesser ( in Deutschland sind wir ungefaehr 400 Schueler an meiner Schule), sie bietet eine weite Auswahl an unterschiedlichen Faechern und die Schuluniform. Um ehrlich zu sein, finde ich es toll meine Schuluniform zu tragen, weil ich dadurch nicht mehr jeden Morgen entscheiden muss, was ich anziehen will und die Schuluniform sieht nicht schlecht aus. Ich habe eine Menge erlebt hier und habe viele Sachen gemacht, die ich nie von mir erwartet haette, zum Beispiel OPC. Es war einfach nur unbeschreiblich und ich wuerde jedem raten, daran teilzunehmen! Wenn ich wieder die Chanche haette, auf einen Austausch zu gehen, wuerde ich garantiert wieder HVHS waehlen.
