SCIENCE Years 9-13 2012 ICAS Science Competition

Entries are now open

This is a 1 hour written test in June. A great chance to test yourself to see how you match up to other students here at HVHS, in Wellington and across NZ.

The entry fee is $8. You have just 1 week to enter at the Resource Centre. Entries close on Friday 6 May.

The completed form must be returned to Mr Larkin before 29 June 2012.

ANZAC Assembly – Tuesday 24 April

On Tuesday 24 April at 10.00 am Year 9 and Year 13 students will gather in the Lower Hutt Town Hall for an ANZAC ceremony. The hall can only provide space for two year groups, so we have chosen the two that represent the spread of the school’s student ages. There is seating sufficient, however, to welcome members of our community to join us in remembering those Hutt Valley High School students and staff who gave their lives in service of their country.

Congratulations to our Boys First XI Cricket Team

Our Cricket 1^st XI’s success in winning the regional Gillette Cup 50 over Final is an historic first for the school. The team will in Term 4 represent the greater Wellington region against five other regional champion teams to determine the national champion. The finals are traditionally the province of boys-only schools; we are only the fourth co-ed in the history of the competition to be in the finals. That is a great achievement in itself, and one the squad (listed below) is very proud of.

Beginning in Term 2 we are running parent evenings once a month. The first is Thursday 23 May, followed by Thursday 28 June.

The Brainwaves Trust will be presenting on the Adolescent brain.

Performances by Scribble Hip Hop Crew, HVHS Stage Band, Tandia Vaughan and Stikers Cheerleaders to name a few. Door sales only $5.00.

CARBON COMPOUNDS AS FUELS –Internal Assessment (4 credits)

All Year 11 students will complete a 1 spell practical assessment and a 1 hour written essay question next week. Students need to check the times of these assessments (in Science class time) with their teacher.
